My family arrived in Canada in the 1600s, and I relate a great deal to the symbolism of the Canadian Coat of Arms, both in understanding and in a personal relation. Yet there are some fundamental points which need to change as they encourage prejudice, abusive oppression, disrespect, and instigate political unrest. Often political Machiavellian unrest is created purposefully in large regions which are colonies, so as to maintain control from afar. As Canada has gained independence, this Coat of Arms require adjustment to reflect our strength and view of ourselves as welcoming people of the world over. 1. One change in particular that demands removal from this symbol, is the chain that shackles the unicorn to the right. The Unicorn points to it being of French decent and being Regal, as seen with the crown around the neck. This symbol of sanctioned oppression by the government of a specific group of individuals is unacceptable. 2. The next point it to have the present British, crown removed from the top of the Coat of Arms, to reflect our Independence as a country. 3. The third change that we desire is for the face armor to be opened, yet not raised, as a symbol of the autonomy and encouraged identity of our National leaders. 4. The forth change is to replace the lion atop the armor with a non predatorial Phoenix bird that raises the maple leaf. 5. The fifth symbol is to change the three maple leafs at the base of the shield so that they are more reflective of Native Canadian imagery so as to encourage unity with the foundations of the country, and respect for its nature. Here I present a petition of Canadian citizenry that desire for this matter to addressed and rectified by our Federal Legislature. We put forth for the changes in these three symbols of oppression to be removed from the Coat of Arms effective immediately, and any government bodies employed to effect this oppression, removed. We feel that these changes to the Coat of Arms are representative of the actual state of our Arms as an independent Nation, and will unite us together to forge new and better relations with Britain, France, the United States, the legacies that founded our Nation, and the world. We are excited to realize a new vision for Canada, it's heirs, and citizenry by this change in the Canadian Coat of Arms.
