It has been proposed that the groundfloor bathroom be replaced by a laundry room with a pay-by-use washing machine and dryer at 39 St Margaret's. Some housemates have previously expressed discontent with the idea because it would mean losing the downstairs bathroom, which is not only inconvenient for all those living downstairs but also all those who use the kitchen. The fairness card that the college is using to argue the case doesn’t really stand. Sure in an ideal world every college house would have equal facilities, but each house is different and has its own perks. We would love a common room or a bike shed like other houses have on SMR (which we've asked for to no avail). If they college are insistent on making everything fair, then why can’t we also get those facilities too? I think it's needless and would be disruptive.
