We the undersigned citizens of the State of Oklahoma call upon the Oklahoma State House of Representatives Democratic Minority Leader Representative Scott Inman and the Oklahoma Democratic Party Caucus to rescind the leadership appointment of Representative Chuck Hoskin as Minority Floor Leader for his comments sited in a national publication, The New York Times, on April 21, 2011. In the interview, Representative Hoskin blatantly and without cause disrespected the President of the United States Barack Obama, a Democrat. In the course of the interview, when asked if he was concerned about embarrassing the leader of his own party, Representative Hoskin said, he thought President Obama’s failure to win over Oklahomans in 2008 was the real embarrassment. He therefore, not only refused to thwart a bill that does not represent Oklahoma Democrats, but in support of the bill, he referred to the President as an “embarrassment.” In his official capacity, Minority Floor Leader Hoskin has failed to: 1. Honor the democratically elected President of the United States of America, a Democrat. 2. Provide leadership that represents the Oklahoma Democratic Party. 3. Confront positions that do not reflect the desires and beliefs of the majority of Democrats in the State of Oklahoma. For these reasons and more, Representative Hoskin should be removed as Minority Floor Leader of the Oklahoma State House of Representatives.
