It's a tradition! Don't change tradition now it's not right! Everyone has fun and is always looking forward to that up coming event!

Let these students have their Homecoming! Changing the dates will change nothing. In fact it will give students more resolve to do what you are trying to prevent. Please re-think this decision!! From a concerned parent of a responsible Western student!
Last year's homecoming attempt to divert students from Broughdale was a bit of a flop. DVBBS performance didn't get as many attendees because not everyone was interested in their music. Instead of working against the students, administration should really consider what kind of performers students want. After all, Western takes pride in its streak of being labeled as Canada's top university for 'Best Student Experience'. I believe Homecoming and the associated unsanctioned street parties are contributing factors to that title. Changing the Homecoming date towards a time when students should be studying for midterms won't deter them from putting school aside to have a little traditional fun. By changing the date to October students are at an increased risk of burning out. I believe there is a better solution to the safety issues associated with the Broughdale street party, and in my opinion we all know changing the date won't stop students and guests from taking over Broughdale.

You come for the education and stay for the wonderful people. After first year you don't have res to meet new friends, you have the events like hoco, and you don't f*ck with hoco

It's a given that students will be partaking in the festivities (sanctioned and unsanctioned) regardless of when they are scheduled. So moving it to a time when students should be studying for exams will only cause students to put aside studying for homecoming. The reasoning behind the date change was too idealistic in my opinion, and I think we all know that it won't stop students/guests from taking to Broughdale. There must be a better solution to the safety issues associated with the unsanctioned street parties.
