Agreed - across the board, we should be better stewards. It's not right that we simply and literally kill our "problems".

It is a lie to call Conservation Officers, well, Conservation Officers! Further, killing off animals that are found on the land we took from them, is akin to genoside with a twist: instead of killing off peoples, we kill off another species and call it justified. What ever happened to relocation? What has happened to stewardship? Why is the rule of thumb now 'shoot to kill'? Who is benefitting from the dead animal (parts)???

Much needs to be done to rethink the present approach to killing of wild cats and other wildlife.

While I can appreciate that that eliminating these cougars is an efficient and permanent solution to a 'problem'; I feel we continue to infringe on their habitat and will eventually see them extirpated. The Wildlife staff should have more resources and be mandated to conserve our wildlife; public education should be a priority.

We must save wildlife, NOT kill it.

I feel they should relocate instead of shooting. What do we tell our kids when they are all but decimated.

The BC government needs to stop the sanctioning of killing our wildlife. BC's wildlife is an integral and important part of our diverse natural environment. Above all else, Trophy Hunting is an abhorrent practice which needs to stop immediately - it serves no purpose in the realm of wildlife conservation.

The actions of the COs directly affected the outcome of the cougars all being killed. they waited too long until the cougars became habituated, have they relocated them at the very beginning and used expertise that perhaps they don't have and should be trained to have, the cougars would've survived. This is a shameful thing that has happened, totally unavoidable. It has got to stop in the future.

For many years I lived in Lynn Valkey, in North Vancouver. We would be sure not to call the 'conservation' officers when a bear or rarely, a cougar appeared because we knew what the result would be. The animal would always end up dead.

Not only cougars but wolves and bears. Men with guns make very poor decisions.

Find a more humane way to deal with wildlife/human interactions. Killing large predators is not the solution.

Death is not the answer

Its pretty sad that all these animals were killed. They shouldn't have been uthinized!

Very cruel and must be stopped, the poor creatures suffer for days before dying, it's totally barbaric.

There has to be a better way to handle situations like this

We can't continue to kill all the wild animals just because they too need space. We took their territory so they have no where else to go. so unnecessary.

The killing of these animals should have been a last resort.
