Change the rule for dogs DQ'd by AKC Judges

You are incorrect. A dog can be EXCUSED three times before it is DISQUALIFIED. Once it is disqualified, it is up to the judge as to whether or not the dog can be allowed to go through the process of reinstatement. If the judge says NO, the dog will not be allowed to even attempt to be reinstated.

Dog showing is the only sport where ONE PERSON has the ability to ruin the athletes career. Every other sport there is a panel. It is important to note that judges can, and have, been influenced by an opposing competitor who does not want a someone else's dog in competition.

I agree it should be up to a panel of judges that should rule if a dog shouldn't be reinstated or not, I have seen first hand that how an exhibitor has influenced the judge to deny a dogs reinstatement so the politics also play into this mess also.

There needs to be a review panel to TRULY evaluate the dogs temperament, ONE person ONE time on any bad day should not determine the end of a show career

Please consider this rule change. Most important for primitive breeds such as Basenjis, Chows, Shibas, etc.

I have puppies that be showing in akc. I don't want to be dqd for basic happy pups behavior.

I know of a case where it was totaly unwarrented. A review is in order.

a committee is the right way to dq a dog ...not one person

They can be excused for not standing for exam but generally takes either a bite or attempted bite to be dq'd

Dear Anonymous a dog if a dog is excused it gets three chances. If it is DQ'd it is only one time and done.

We should have a review board to determine if the dog is a danger to the AKC community

I'm a judge for a different registry, and I have seen a dog react to one judge with shyness, and then with me it had no problem just minutes later. I had one dog that reacted to me with a snarl , I saw it coming not from what I did but the handler caused it, he explained to me that he was nervous so I told him to relax and take a deep breath because he would cause his dog to go into protection mode, which the dog did. I did not "DQ"this dog as I saw that it was caused by the handler, a few minutes later same handler and dog better state of mind on both.

please learn the akc rules before you start a petition...a dog can be disqualified 3 times...so no it is not up to one judge...a dog should be trained before taking to a show call your local kennel club and ask where there are conformation classes...showing dogs is a sport...and it has rules..to protect dogs and judges!
