Why are people still in prison on a law that was abandoned many many years ago . It’s disgusting that people have no release date !!

You have prisoners that were given ipp sentences which have now been scrapped as against human rights that are still in prison years after their recommended release dates

3 n half yr tariff for my son now 14 yrs down the line he remains in prison I said 5 yrs ago wen they abolished the ipp from ALL courts that they could have taken each ipp case bk into court an at least given each person a release date it could have all been done by now an at least our loved ones would have a goal to look forward to instead they still have NOTHING

It’s cruel and unjust they see no end in sight and nothing left to look forward too. It’s not just ipp that serve the sentence families do too. They need to know they will be released. Everyone deserves a second chance

Changing the test for release will mean that the Parole Board can rely on a much lower threshold, when assessing risk to the public, but more importantly the opportunity to utilise much more of the current support available to IPP,s on release. It makes sense to all professionals involved in the release, supervision and support of ex-prisoners in the community, and it is long overdue...

IPP prisoners have had hope taken from them. All offenders need something to strive for, IPP's need to know they will be released. Its cruel and unjust to lock up and throw away the key.

My partner is IPP and I find the sentence absolutely disgusting, they see no end to their sentence, everyone deserves a chance of freedom. The IPP sentence was abolished for a very good reason but still too many are left suffering along with us as families
