In around three months the newest edition of DSM (diagnostic statistical manual of mental disorders), will be released. This year, psychiatrists have changed the names of some of the disorders. Borderline Personality Disorder will now be known as Emotionally Unstable Mood Disorder. With all of the stigma that is already going on with having a mental illness, one would think that these "professionals" would have chosen something less drastic to name this disorder. No one wants to be labeled emotionally unstable under any circumstances, but to have Medical Professionals FORCE this label onto patients is disgusting. This petition is to show support for getting this unacceptable LABEL ripped down and rewritten for the new DSM. Please think about how you would feel if you were given this disgnosis and had to carry around this name on charts and explain it to others throughout your whole life!
