One of my history professors told the class about how Forrest hall was named after a KKK leader, and I always found it unsettling. In the wake of the Confederate flag controversy, this seems an appropriate action to take.

I'm an MTSU alumni who's deeply ashamed by this tribute to one of the ugliest stains on the history of our state.

Alum proud of MTSU and even more so once all NBF references are gone. Remember when large NBF symbol was removed for the student center in the 60's. Follow suit.

He made choices and now it is time for us to make choices. His violent acts and beliefs toward the African American slave and freed slave population have caught up with him.

Tennessee "The Volunteer State" bears that nickname for the heroism and patriotism of thousands of men who stepped forward to defend the United States of America. We have many outstanding military leaders in our state history; surely it's time to embrace an inclusive name that all can be proud of. Please consider renaming this public building.

Why was it ever named after the KKK head anyway?? And why does this matter require continued debate - and equivocation? Students, faculty, alumni, and the community want this name to disappear from MTSU's campus.

MTSU B.A., 2009; MTSU M.A., 2014; MTSU Graduate Certificate 2014. Now a doctoral candidate in the Pacific Northwest, and very ashamed of my alma mater upholding a heritage of hate. Do the right thing, MTSU.
Long overdue
Class of 1996. Change it!!
