Nathan Bedford Forrest's legacy is not keeping with the Army core values nor the Warrior Ethos. His name should not be upon a building that developed our future military leadership. SGT. Alvin Pike

I just left Chapel Hill, TN for a work related thing and I'm aware their high school is named after Forrest as well. 20 solid hours of full blown anxiety so I can't imagine having to do my studies in that building.

To have a monument on campus to Forrest in 2016 is completely unacceptable. Change the name!

I am not a student at the university. However I am in support of change. It time to leave negative history in the past and honor those who made a positive defference in people's life. Lets make a stand #changethedamnname

I don't want to be an alumni of a school that promotes hate and calls it history.

Anything remotely related to terrorism, homegrown or abroad, stands to be abolished.

Nathan Bedford Forrest's name belongs in the pages of history books but not over the door of a university building. Let's move forward.

Change the name. It's time for MTSU to set an example for Middle Tennessee by shaping the future and allowing racist historical figures to be studied through history and political science. We must never forget. However, we should not honor or perpetuate racist history in ceremonial institutionalization.
