Change the morning school entry plan at Sherbrooke Junior
We, the undersigned, would like to see a change in the way the children enter the school in the morning.
We would like to see the children enter the school using the East door facing Sherbrooke with continued gradual entry.
We feel this is the best way to get the children into the building efficiently and safely for the following reasons:
1 - This provides the shortest route to each classroom. Children can enter the school directly to both the upstairs and downstairs hallway. This is the most efficient route to allow children to have more time to prepare for the day in the classroom.
2 - Enables teacher supervision be concentrated at the front of the school, focused on drop off and helping kids into the building. A parent volunteer can be enlisted to supervise and help the children crossing the small crosswalk in front of the parking lot.
3 - Would allow parents to see and supervise the children straight into the school after drop off as opposed to a distance away across the school yard or behind the wall of the school.
4 - Would allow parents to remain on the sidewalk on the east side of the school therefore not standing in the parking lot.
5 - We understand that the entrance to this East door is narrow because of a new closet, but only one door is needed to let the children in. Gradual entry ensures that children enter as they arrive so that the flow of children is always staggered.
We respectfully request that this plan be given careful consideration and that the current entry plan be changed to allow children to enter the school in the morning through the East door facing Sherbrooke.
Respectfully submitted by the undersigned:
