Across the U.S we've been celebrating the news that love wins. Unfortunately here in the Cayman Islands it's not the case. The Immigration law in Cayman doesn't recognise LGBT couples. Therefore, they cannot list their spouse as a dependent on their work permit/ immigration papers.

For gay couples, both will have to be employed before moving to the island/ to stay on the island.

This petition aims to change the immigration law to allow gay couples the same immigration rights as heterosexual couples.

Watching this count climb reminds me that my partner and I are not fighting for our future alone. If we hit this goal before the immigration board meets we will be impossible to ignore.

Seeing one hundred people sign this in support of my partner and me is overwhelming. It feels like this invisible barrier is finally being questioned by people who care about basic fairness.

Shared'. I lived and worked in Cayman years ago and found i felt like a hypocrite as my best friend and her wife's relationship would have been illegal. Not right!!

The immigration laws should be changed so families can be together and not seperated due to the fact the parents are a same sex couple.

Good luck Leo and James, definitely time for Cayman to wake up. If any of us deserve to be together and be happy, it is you two. Much love. Sxx

I implore everyone, especially fellow law students, to sign this petition. No matter what your religious beliefs, the fundamental component of the rule of law is that we are all equal before it.

this has got nothing to do with being gay or straight and everything to do with fairness and equality for all. everyone is human and deserves the same fair treatment regardless of sexual orientation, their choice in life partner, background, race, colour, religion or otherwise. Love is Love and thats it! Simple.
