When will people wake up. The UK is not one country, but four. Great Britain ceased to be an entity in 1707. Great Britain is a brand. Its impossible to point to it on a map without inflating four other sovereign nations.

This is either a deliberate insult or an embarrassing mistake. Either way it has to change.

I plan on contacting them in regards to that for other countries some time, George. Wales should be able to have the Baner Cymru for St. David's Day and Cornwall should have their flag for St. Piarn's Day. As Brooke mentioned below as well as you, acknowledging people's cultures and customs from all over should be a given.

George, after my ire went down I wondered the same thing. I decided after talking with good friends to start this petition ASAP this morning to get them, Facebook, to change it. Anyone who knows History should know how offensive it is to the memory of Robert Burns observed with the Union Jack.

Who suggested to FB that it use the Union Jack for Burns Day anyway?

fb appear to be considering the so-called UK to be 'united' and do not recognise the importance of historical, social and cultural identification.

Robert Burns is the National Bard of Scotland and the Saltire the Scottish flag should be the emotion for the Burns Supper not the Union Jack Jack.

Robert Burns was Scottish and not British, he was Scotland's national bard! The English, Welsh and Irish don't celebrate Burns night like the Scottish people do. It's an absolute outcry that Facebook is planning to use the Union Flag for celebrating Burns Night and not use the Saltire.

The Saltire is and should be a permanent choice to add to ones postings.
