Robert Burns was Scottish, through and through. We understand the "Union" is the national flag of all of the nations together, but Burns Night is exclusively Scottish in honour of The Bard. The Union doesn't recognise him though the Scottish do; and those of us outside of Scotland, with Scottish ancestry, right up to even the most recent generation, recognise him as a Scottish figure.
Please represent his day of honour properly with the Saltire and the Saltire alone.

The Saltire is Scotland's national flag. Scotland is a NATION. Other nations' flags are the norm on Facebook. Scotland is entitled to be shown the same acknowledgement and respect.

I agree fully with this statement. Common sense tells you it should be the Saltire.

The ''union'' flag is extremely offensive to most Scots and particularly those who celebrate the songs and poems of Robert Burns on his particular day. He was, as the Petition states, virulently anti-British & the union of the parliaments and that union flag is a severe insult to his memory.

I think the vast majority of Scots, and those of Scottish descent around the world, will be deeply offended if Facebook uses the union jack to commemorate Burns Day.

Burns' Night is a distinctly Scottish celebration which is not, as far as I'm aware, officially observed elsewhere in the U.K.

It is a Scottish celebration of Scotland's bard, therefore requires the famous Saltire,
Come on Facebook, don't insult a nation.
