Robert Burns is the National Bard of Scotland.The icon on facebook for Burns Supper should be the Flag of Scotland and not the Flag of the United Kingdom.

No longer are the people of Scotland willing to stand by and watch as the history and culture of their country is decimated. Rabbie Burns is a Scottish icon who is known throughout the World and it is disrespectful to his memory and the people of Scotland for him to be remembered with a flag he spoke so eloquently against.

It is totally improper to have the union flag used in this way. We have Burns derided by people like David Starkey and Jeremy Paxman as a 'parochial writer of doggerel.' These 'icons' of the establishment of England reject Burns and they are not alone in that. There is a feeling in Scotland that they and too many like them are motivated by some sort of ethno-contempt bordering on racism. Drop the union flag please; its use in this context is wrong and highly offensive.

Didn't used to think f,ags mattered all that much but I do now. I want nothing to do with the Union Jack associatedas it is with colonisation and inequality. The Saltire for me.
