Hi, we have lived in Guilford for 24 years and both of our daughters graduated from GHS, one in 2011 and the other in 2015. This is the right thing to do. We live and learn and understanding our history is vital to that end.

I graduated with the Class 2010 and participated in athletics. It is a shame that Guilford cannot understand how having the mascot "Indians" could be offensive, or how we can use a group that has been marginalized to represent the Guilford community for sport. I really hope that we can finally move beyond this as this has been a topic for discussion for years.

I’m proud to come from Guilford, class of 2011, but embarrassed of our insensitive and racist mascot. Let’s make the right choice!

The Guilford Green is literally the most obvious alternative name for a team in the history of alternative names for teams.

We tried changing the mascot in 2007, my Senior year, with no success. I believe Guilford can be a leader in change, and we can start by changing the school’s mascot.
