Teaching girls that they are responsible for other people's behavior and that they should cover up, is shameful! It's an unacceptable perpetuates rape culture. Boys and girls need to learn to respect each other no matter the clothing.

This is so important! It's making women be seen as sexual objects and women should be allowed to do what they want with their bodies because it's THEIRS. The dress codes are absolutely sexist and are promoting the idea that it is the girls fault for distracting boys.

I agree that the Seattle district should change the dress code rule because many girls can't express themselves of who they are. Plus doesn't teachers trust us to be who we are? Well, many girls wear appropriate clothing to school but sometime feel like they are going to get dress coded. So everytime a girl walk down the hall, she might feel scared to be dress coded for wearing the right clothing or it's like close to the finger tips, and she doesn't want to get pulled over. Many teachers only target girls and not boys. This is so unfair that many girls are treated to wear only something that covers up the whole body. It's not our fault that many people keep on looking at us. We, girls are not trying to be "sex objects" we know how to take care of our own self and we don't need anyone trying to tell us to change and miss our education because of what we wear.

As a teacher, I agree that dress code policies are directed towards shaming feminine presenting students as opposed to holding all students accountable for ethical and consentual practices. Good job, students. Keep advocating to eradicate mysoginistic rules.
