GNIB card suffices all the requirement for a "Re-entry" Visa, better it cease to exist.

5 weeks is almost a month. How can an immigrant wait for a whole month to apply for a reentry visa. Hard working immigrants come to this beautiful country leaving behind their parents and children and now they have to wait a whole month just to start their application is just sad. Not to mention a technically advance country like Ireland relying on archaic and slow method of sending application via post is down right stupid and a step backwards in progress.

Re-entry can be abolished as the GNIB card covers the necessary documentation for a resident to entry Ireland anytime

Why trouble the immigrants
Instead increase the staff in offices to handle applications.

This is step backwards for Ireland, if the aim is to continue to attract highly skilled individuals to fill in the gap then rethink this. These people who pay 10s of thousands in taxes each year are stuck for 2 months each year unable to do business trips or to reach out to family when needed. Many people are already having second thoughts due to accomodation challenges and dinasour era procedures such as separate gnib and re entry visa processes which only exist here.

Every year I get stuck in the country for 2 months. This is to time needed to renew the GNIB and the re-entry visa.
Not mentioning the business need requiring me to travel, what about urgent personal matter that does not involve death of a family member that is classified as emergency
