It’s really stupid to get a re entry visa when you have a residency permit. The government can charge a 100 Euro more and abolish visas for stamp 1 and stamp 4

Re-entry visas are a severe headache to the expats living in Ireland irrespective of the country they come from. I had to lose out on a lucrative job opportunity in a neighboring EU state as I could not attend the interview at a short notice, considering the fact that a Schengen visa application requires a re-entry visa and it takes more than a month to get both consecutively. On a different note, most of the employers except the big MNCs have zero knowledge of what Stamp-1G visa is, and its terms and conditions which makes it tremendously difficult in even getting an interview call even when your qualifications and experience are a good match for the role. Hope the authorities take note of this and do the needful. They should also stop milking the non-EU nationals by bringing down the immigration fee of 300 Euros whereas the services in terms of securing appointments and error-free IRP permits are absolute disgrace. In some EU states like France, expats pay 60 Euros a year to renew their residence permit.
