I have a dear friend that her son had to go threw many surgeries and speech braces etc.. they struggled to make sure he had the surgeries he needed and I feel like ins should pay for it and help the precious kids get what they deserve without question and families worry about the financial end instead be able to take care and love them threw all the hardships that come along with it!

It's a medical condition, it should be covered as that.

Help these kids, they need it. My daughter was born with clefts and we do not know where we would be without her getting the care she needed.

We have to take the responsibility to help these families and children get through these difficult times. The children have to endure the changes pain and looks as they develop let alone not having the finances for the surgeries braces etc. we can’t take the uneasiness of what the children face but we can assist in financing their surgeries so they can feel good about themselves.any doctor and nurses go to other countries to help kids with this problem. As a nation it’s our responsibility to take care of ours.

All surgeries for this birth disorder should be covered. They are not just cosmetic. There are many ripple effects to this including swallowing and speech difficulties.

I am an orthodontist and have been treating children with cleft lip and palate for many years. I have never understood why insurance companies won’t cover orthodontic treatment for children with this congenital deformity. These children cannot have the necessary surgeries without the aid of orthodontic treatment!!

These children have gone through enough along with their families. These procrdures are medically necessary and should never fall under cosmetic. God bless them all.
