As of October 1st, the Burdekin region was told by the Burdekin Shire Council that water restrictions would commence and would be between the hours of 6pm-6am. However, it should be noted that the council did not consult the community regarding the timeframe we would like. Yes, water evaporation reduces if you water at night. This timeframe allocated suits people with inbuilt sprinkler systems, but not most of the general public who have to change the position of the sprinkler in the dark. This poses a risk to the elderly, and is an opportunity for thieves to target. People who work full time all day, wouldn't neccessary want to come home and have to water at this time, so a reconsideration of a different time should occur.
