Do not allow the excellence of the CAUS program to be destroyed. Olivio Ferrari and Dean Burchard created the unique pedagogy developed from the Bauhaus philosophy of eduction. As a result CAUS has maintained a top ranking among American Architecture schools for 50 years with an approach not found at any other university. My education prepared me for an enriched life and career as an architect and firm principal, as well as Associate Professor at CUA. The willful disrespect and disregard by Dean Blythe to Ferrari's legacy and to his senior founding faculty at CAUS as well as the manipulative means is insulting and narcissistic. Throwing out the proven philosophical core and replacing it with something akin to the celebrity pedagogy at the Ivies or other trade schools is a tragedy, and a slap in the face of the graduates. Ferrari stressed the principle of behaving personally respectful and professionally tough. Also, that professional issues such as the essence of the school and program should be publicly aired and debated, not privately attacked and undermined.

Even as an undergraduate student in the department of engineering, I could feel the negative impacts of Dean Blythe's administration through my involvement in interdisciplinary research projects. Despite these projects being beyond a doubt the most formative aspects of my education, Dean Blythe's lack of support and unwillingness to negotiate became one of the greatest hurdles we were forced to face in order to achieve success in our project. It is very disappointing when the ones you expect to support you and aid your success are in reality the ones rooting for your failure.
