The Council listened and agreed to remove the parking restrictions at McCarrs Creek. This outcome belongs entirely to you because I never imagined so many people would join in to help. I am still processing the news but I am so incredibly grateful for your persistence.

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the recent introduction of 8-hour parking restrictions at McCarrs Creek Reserve by the Northern Beaches Council. As frequent users of the facilities at McCarrs Creek for accessing our vessels moored at the TfNSW moorings, we believe these restrictions pose significant challenges to our boating activities.

While we understand the need for parking regulations, the rationale behind these restrictions is unclear, especially considering the rarity of parking shortages in the area. The sudden imposition of these restrictions disproportionately impacts boat users, who rely on the dinghy storage facility, boat ramp, and jetty to access our boats.

The new parking restrictions severely limit our ability to enjoy overnight stays on our vessels and significantly curtail our opportunities for day sails. This not only diminishes our recreational enjoyment but also undermines the accessibility of the area for water activities.

Therefore, we call on the Northern Beaches Council to reconsider these parking restrictions as a matter of urgency. Alternatively, we propose the implementation of a revised scheme that accommodates the needs of boat users without penalizing them. This could include designated parking areas or the introduction of a permit system that allows for extended parking durations for registered boat users.

By revisiting these restrictions and working collaboratively with the boating community, the Council can ensure that public spaces like McCarrs Creek Reserve remain inclusive and accessible to all residents and visitors.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have come forward to say this matters. It is clear that this boat ramp is a lifeline for so many of us and your response proves we are not alone in feeling that way.

Am in shock. Will probably have to sell our yacht. No decent day trips or overnight stays any more. They’re clearly targeting the boat owners who already pay the council for the dinghy rack. Why can’t they issue boat owners with stickers?

I have a dinghy in the reserve (which I pay a yearly fee for) and would have big problem with adhering to this parking restriction as it would basically make it impossible for me to take my boat (which is on a swing mooring 300m of McCarrs Creek reserve) out over night.

As a pensioner, l now have time to enjoy my hobby, and am not able to park my car over night, so prohibiting my freedom to enjoy the Hawkesbury.l feel descriminated against. Retirement takes a long time to realise, please make some provision for us, who are mostly retired people!

There is nowhere else to park! Our boat is moored at McCarrs Ck and our tender is stored at McCarrs Ck Reserve. We frequently spend overnights and multiple days on our vessel, and have to leave our car where our tender is stored. We are local Northern Beaches residents, and should be entitled to use our local waterways for longer periods than 8 hours without a parking penalty! Surely there can be an exemption for Northern Beaches residents, just like at our beaches? Or a parking permit supplied for users of the tender storage facility? This is unfair. Please consider a better parking arrangement as a matter of urgency!

I am a regular McCarrs Ck park user, regularly stay overnight on my moored vessel and cannot see any good reason why council would wish to penalise boat users and others who frequent the park. I am happy to be part of a permit arrangement for regular users but a blanket prohibition seems unwarranted.

It’s ridiculous to put a time restriction on this reserve as a lot of people have boats moored in the creek close by and use it for access if they take their boat out overnight. We’ve gone on a friends boat overnight and been able to leave our car there. There is no where else to park or leave your car for an overnight night stay on the road so this is very unreasonable. It’s not a spot that gets super busy like the spots further along the creek so should be left with unlimited parking.

Just stupid, boat owners can't stay overnight. What is the point. There must be a better way to control campers. Is this just another money grab. Shame shame

I often go out on my parents boat and park at Mc Carrs Creek Reserve. I will be out sometimes overnight, and often in summer will come back in the evening, meaning I need more than 8 hours parking. I am a local Northern beaches resident, and wonder where else I am going to park?? Look like we will have to park along the road or outside residents houses?? This is the most ridiculous idea I have seen recently.
