I petition that the Rochester Public School District or even the State of Minnesota schools should ban Go Guardian and should implement another content blocking site called Control D.

Go Guardian is widely considered an invasion of privacy by students and teachers.Students have shared a detest toward the site because of how much they can actually see. Go Guardian has access to most everything your student does, it records Google searches, flags them, reports them to your teachers, then makes them file a report that sometimes they don't want to file. It comes with a 24/7 monitoring software that allows your teacher to watch you around the clock, teachers have the option to turn this off but many don't even know that it's on.

Another downside is the effect this has on the student. Students have expressed how "This site is making school feel more like a prison than a school." and teachers have said how they feel that Go Guardian is allowing them to see things that they probably shouldn't see, like a student dealing with something at home, teachers now have access to see everything like that. Up until October 15 2023 Go Guardian had access to the students camera and the AI built in to Go Guardian would turn it on without the student knowing or the teacher for that matter. There is so much more that Go Guardian is doing to the school system including demoting teachers interactions with students, while 10 year old's are learning how to monitor themselves teachers are slumped behind their screens watching little boxes display what their students are doing, this demotes interactions with students because instead of walking around having conversations with their students teachers are watching them.

I promote Control D because it is just what teachers have been looking for. It restricts explicit content while allowing your students to not feel like they're being watched! It filters explicit content, Malware, Dangerous content, trackers and adds all on its own. It filters websites and is customizable to your prefereance. It also has preset restrictions, if you don't feel like customizing your own, you can choose from preset options. You can install it on just one device or an entire network of devices.

Control D is a great and safe alternative to Go Guardian and I strongly believe that it is a good idea to switch Go Guardian for Control D. For more
