A teenage girl gets caught putting her mobile phone into her locker by a teacher. The phone gets confiscated and Held for 2 weeks by the school as means of punishment for taking the phone to school. Under absolutely No circumstances is the school willing to enter into negotiations with the child or the child's parents to discuss handing the phone back.
Picture this. Aforementioned teenage girl has just returned to school after being home schooled for almost 2 years due to mental health issues following the death of her father. Issues that this school have been made well aware of. A young girl is left sitting, upset, on a chair having a panic attack following the upset that this harsh and heartless punishment has caused, totally unnecessarily.

We are calling for this policy to be reviewed and CHANGED.
It is merely a power trip by those in authority in this school.
Firstly we agree and accept that kids who break the mobile phone rule must be punished. We suggest either an immediate detention or a fine. Confiscate the device but return it at the end of the day.
Secondly we call for a copy of the schools insurance policy where it states that the devices are insured to be held on the premises for 2 weeks.
And thirdly we call for a confidentiality policy to be drawn up and signed by the teacher who holds the phone to ensure these kids that these devices remain switched OFF while held by the school.

We would also like to make it quite clear that if ANYTHING happens to any of our teenage girls that could have been totally avoided had they been able to call for help, that this school is being totally held responsible.
