5 years in exchange for the life sentence this man and his family have received is disgusting, the court should be embarrassed for even letting them get away with this so easily 5 years for the harshest that's just stupid and disrespectful it will not change these people's behaviour they need to be punished! Justice for Simon!

My family have experienced a similar situation. The low lifes that assaulted my brother have served their inadequate sentences and are walking the streets. However my brother has to live with his brain injury for the rest of his life. Violent assaults that cause this level of life changing injuries should carry a minimum of ten years prison sentence. The sentences served today are an insult and not justice in any way shape or form!

This story is heart breaking, this poor mans family have lost him really as a husband son dad brother..... these thugs should be put away for a long time. They will be laughing at the justice system after being given such ridiculously short jail sentences.

Up to 10 years for streaming a football match illegally but less than half that for leaving someone for dead. What's gone wrong with our legal system?

Needs to be tougher sentences on a lot of things. All that happens now a days is you get a telling off, how does this deter people and give families justice?

Laws need to changed to stop these scumbags from ruining anymore innocent families lives. Their short sentences are appalling compared to the damage they have done.

Sentences need to be a deterant, Too many thugs never have to live with the damage they have caused. They need a taste of their own medicine with Hard Labour being brought back and sentences meeting the same time that their victims have to live with the memory or physical results. So for these thugs should be their full natural life in prison, that is what they have sentenced the whole Dobbin family to. This country has become too soft, police are doing their best with the law and solicitors, barristers and judges should be ashamed of letting them(the police) and law abiding citizens down. I am becoming fed up of not feeling safe to walk in our towns and countryside and we need to claim our justice back.

As one of the partners shouted at Nicole in the courtroom " at least we will get our partners back your never get yours back "
This is so wrong Simon is a lovely man and deserves justice.
Nicole and Emily have been amazing strong, if getting the law changed stops anything like this happening again then something good might come our of this.
These men are repeat affended and nearly killed Simon, leaving him brain damage and needing around the clock care.
PLEASE change the law five years, and two and a half years and they will get out early with good behaviour is Not Acceptable and the law needs to change.
