The policies and procedures of the Water/Utilities Department at the City of Sulphur Springs, TX are not meant to help the residents of the community. They are in place to simply bring in more revenue no matter the cost to the citizens.

It's my goal to change the policies & procedures within this department. Currently, disconnection notices are sent out only a day after the bill is due. You are then immediately charged $30.00 to "Reconnect" your services no matter if they have actually been disconnected or not. I am fortunate enough to be able to afford this cost, however, there are far more that can barely make the water payment BEFORE the added fees are charged! This system needs changed.

They offer the ability to email bills and disconnect notices. They will tell you themselves that the system is "flawed" and "hit or miss", yet you still have to pay the reconnect fee whether the bill was sent or not.

Also, if you want to complain to the managers at this local city office you get laughed at, told "well I dont know what to tell you", or just hung up on. They are the rudest, most unprofessional department I have EVER dealt with.

Please sign this petition in order to send a message to city officials stating "We Want Change".. We have no other options for water, but that doesn't mean we should allow them to treat us poorly.
