CHANGE IN SECURITY WORKFLOW (URGENT) AT KAISER BALDWIN PARK
We, the undersigned staff want to petition for a change in security workflow at Kaiser Baldwin Park Hospital. Due to recent events, we feel that with the continuation of 24 hour visitation, staff does NOT feel like they are safe the workplace. There have been many occurrences with visitors wandering to different units. This suggestion does not change visitation guidelines (open policy) nor increase in security staff, but instead to suggest a safe and effective way to utilize our security staff to ensure that the hospital staff feel safe in the hospital/work environment.
We would like to suggest One security guard at the main elevators of the hospital to check visitors in. Each department should be color-coded, so when visitors check in with security, they can give visitors the proper visitor color sticker/arm band to place where it is visible, so that staff can identify the proper department the visitors should be at or directed to. Visitors should be limited to TWO per patient and swap if more visitors are present, as this can help staff with crowd control and not interrupt staff’s care for the patients/members.
Other Kaiser facilities have security protocols in place regarding visitation. We hope that you implement this suggestion, as safety for all staff and patients/members should be taken seriously. Thank you.
