We all know the new GST that has come into play from 1st July 2017 for Tour Operator and Travel Agents . According to this GST we have to charge 5% GST on the selling amount . If we are a B2B agent then this 5% does not have any Input Tax Credit , which means it will have a cascading effect and the end client will have to pay alot . He will not buy from us and go directly to the hotel . To avoid the above to happen we have jotted down the below points to be put in front of the GST Council so that they can rethink the GST Rate for us .

1. Our request is that Government should charge a Tour Operator GST @ 12% or 18% or 28% (as per the hotel booked) given that he gets credit of input tax charged on goods and services used in supplying the goods and services OR

2. Allow a Tour Operator / Travel Agent to charge GST @ flat 18% on "Service Charges" which would be mentioned on the bill

3. Our request to the Government is also that there should be GST charged on overseas travel portals also OR do not charge us GST through Reverse Charge Mechanism on bookings made from Overseas Travel portal
