Exit 34 services a large part of Northeast Nelson County, KY, as well as other adjacent counties. There is a high volume of traffic that uses this exit travelling for work and also recreation at Taylorsville Lake, for example. It is an extremely unsafe due to the crossing of traffic while entering and exiting the parkway. The eastbound side in particular is a blind entrance onto the parkway due to a rock cliff that obstructs vision until the last moment of entering traffic. Further, the off ramps going in both directions allow for hidden areas, which create the potential for danger. All other On/Off ramp situations have been addressed on the BG Parkway, from its previous history as a toll road, except for Exit 34. We, the below signed, would like to see this situation remedied.

Updates

October 17, 2023

The scale of this response has secured us a formal meeting with representatives from the Department of Transportation. I am currently finalizing a briefing document that outlines the specific sightline obstructions at Exit 34 for our discussion.

This is an extremely dangerous exit & there isn't a reason good enough for why it hasn't been corrected at some point over the years. The eastbound side is so scary merging & exiting! It's terrible!

A great place to get runover. With a semi on your back bumper, someone pulls down in your exit lane. Very dangerous!

We use this regularly as we live in Chaplin, this is a busy exit/on ramp and we’ve been close to being hit several times. Traffic flies by with no regard and it’s hard to see getting on/off, the ramps are way too close to feel safe entering or exiting any direction.

This needs to be addressed never a morning goes by they myself or another vehicle can get over due to passing cars headed into bardstown and they come off that ramp as if no one's coming. This is the dumbest design I have ever seen.

I agree i only travel on Sundays going to church at the next exit. You can't see for the rock bank. When i get on i get on the shoulder to avoid hit anyone. Coming back to the exit it is as bad when someone is entering, they are to yeild but most don't.
