The Schulich School of Law proudly states that 61% of its students hail from outside of Nova Scotia. Unfortunately a large potion of the 2015 graduating class feels as though the University administration did not take their needs into account when scheduling the spring 2015 convocation. We request that the convocation date scheduled for May 29-30, 2015 be changed to an earlier date, as any student wishing to write the 2015 Ontario Bar Exam will not be able to attend.

Graduates of the class of 2015 who wish to write the Bar Exam in Ontario will write their first exam on June 2, 2015. This exam is the culmination of three years of extremely hard work, and is not an exam to be taken lightly.

Placing the 2015 convocation on the same weekend as the Ontario Bar Exam was an oversight on the part of the University administration. This will place a large portion of the students of the Schulich School of Law, who have worked very hard for their law degree, and who have invested a large amount of money for this education, in a position where they will not be able to walk across the stage to receive their JD.

We are asking that the Dalhousie University administration change the date of the Schulich School of Law Convocation back to the original date of May 22, 2015.

How else can you help? Tweet to university administrators to express disappointment / request change, write to the Dalhousie Gazette, keep on talking to profs and Schulich administration asking for support...

Update:

This date will also be problematic for anyone taking the PLTC Course in Vancouver, and anyone who starts articles on June 1.
