If this law is so important, the big stores should have to follow it too. If Walmart had to comply with this ordinance, it would change overnight.

I am a small business owner in downtown Ocala and see a huge difference in traffic flow without putting any merchandise outside. Changing this ordinance would help small businesses tremendously.

From a shopper's POV, I love sidewalk display racks. It lets me preview the types of wares a store has before I decide whether I want to walk through the door. It's honestly another effective marketing tool a small business can employ to attract customers and doesn't cause any hindrances for anyone else. The ordinance really needs to change, as the common sense view is on the opposite side!

The city should be finding way to support our small businesses, not way to close them. Outdoor displays are great advertisements for the stores who may not be able to afford the cost of published advertisements. Plus, even large chain stores have sidewalk sales.
