Reporting box office gross has not changed in 50 years. It no longer reflects the complexity and dynamic environment studios, theatre owners and movie customers face today.

Movies are now released on up to 11,000 screens with over 100,000 shows and in different formats and prices.

It is time to modernize how the industry reports and measures a movie's success.

We believe the same process that TV networks use to rank their shows, and record companies use to chart songs and albums is a far more effective way to measure the success and popularity of a movie.

We, the undersigned, call upon the studios and exhibitors to work together to change the way a movie's performance is reported.
