This petition is for people against the new policy that requires students to have to attend classes on the day(s) during which they are taking IB or AP exams.

Updates

April 22, 2014

The school board thinks they can force students to burn out by ignoring these exams but this massive surge of support proves we are not backing down. They are treating our academics like a joke and it is time they face the consequences of this ridiculous policy.

The new policy appears to be unsupportive of AP and IB test takers despite the 2013/14 BHS goal to "increase the number of eligible college credits earned annually by the student body."

This is ridiculous. My son has three AP tests this week and he can barely study between classes. Whoever came up with this clearly never took an AP test.

WHAT were they thinking with this one???

Completely agree. BHS needs to get it together. These tests are stressful enough without forcing us to sit in study hall.

I was turned onto this petition by a parent that isn't too impressed with this rule. As a BSB member, I can't tell Principal Hagen what I like or don't like because I'm specifically blocked from 'interfering'. I get that. I can say, to my knowledge and review, the District has no such policy. The nearest policy that I can find in the manual is IJOA regarding field trips. Maybe its a stretch -or not- but it seems to me that while the Building Principal can authorize it (or not), the Supt is supposed to review any appeal. What I can do is offer some advice. Take these numbers and go talk to Principal Hagen. Escalate it to the Supt as your recourse.

Glad someone finally started something about this. My daughter is exhausted and this policy is just making things way worse for no reason.
