Please let me preface this petition with the following statements. THIS IS A FRIENDLY, NON-HOSTILE, INFORMATIONAL PETITION ONLY. NONE of the comments in this petition are derogatory or negative against the school administration and/or leadership. The final decision is that of the superintendent, principals, and school board of the Cerro Gordo School District, and whatever decision they make will be respected and honored. The purpose of the petition is ONLY to demonstrate how much interest there is regarding this request. Nothing more!

Negative comments against the school district will not be tolerated and will be deleted.

The solar eclipse happens on Monday, August 21st. School will have already started again after the summer break in the community of Cerro Gordo, Illinois. Students who want to observe the eclipse in full will have to be absent that day, which will count against their attendance. There have been reports of school districts across the country that are using an inclement "bad" weather day for August 21st to allow students the opportunity to see the eclipse in full. We are petitioning the superintendent and school administration to declare an inclement weather day for Monday, August 21st to allow students the chance to see this rare total solar eclipse, an extremely valuable educational opportunity for them. Please show your support for asking the Cerro Gordo School District #100 to declare Monday, August 21st, 2017 as an inclement weather day and to allow their student body to view the solar eclipse.

By signing this petition, you are merely showing support in asking the Cerro Gordo School District #100 to declare an inclement weather day for Monday, August 21st, 2017 in honor of the total solar eclipse.

Thank you for your consideration.
