The Town Board officially rejected the Conifer permit this evening. I am relieved that our neighborhood character will be preserved for my kids to grow up in just as I did. Thank you for staying the course until this was settled.

REJECT Conifer Development's "special permit" application for housing at Hunts Place

We, the undersigned residents and business owners of New Castle, call upon our Town Board to reject Conifer Development's "special permit" application for housing at Hunts Place.
The proposed five-story, 36-unit building is inappropriate for this location, excessively out of scale with its surroundings, and does not comply with the objectives of our Town Comprehensive Plan.
We urge our elected officials to explore alternative options for affordable housing in New Castle, based upon the following:
1. A clear, open process that will incorporate input from citizens and local businesses
2. Smaller scale development that fits within our hamlets
3. Safe, healthy and pleasant development site(s) with access to public transport, shopping, recreation, and emergency services

The prospect of this massive development at Hunts Place is keeping me up at night. Please send this link to your neighbors right now so we can reach two hundred fifty signatures before our next meeting.

Seeing this groundswell of support for Hunts Place brings me back to the first day I stood on that property and realized how much we have to lose. The momentum here proves that our neighbors recognize the importance of keeping our development plans scaled to the character of this town.

This building is going to ruin the neighborhood feel. Why are we pushing this through so fast???
Not against affordable housing but this specific project is just wrong for the location. Find somewhere else.
Five stories is way too big for that spot. The traffic is already a mess and the town board needs to actually listen to the people who live here for once.
Keep our town scale in mind. That size is just ridiculous for Hunts Place.
Enough with the massive builds. It clearly doesn't follow the plan we were told about. Stop it.
