This petition is just worrying. Has nobody the sense to think beyond the incone of profit?
Inherently, the traveling of large animals in tiny enclosures across country for hours on end alone is cruel and barbaric. Besides from expoliting and forcing them to perform strange and unnatural tricks in an even stranger and more unnatural environment. Plucking animals from their habitat, from any normal ecosystem on which they naturally need to depend, and then making them perform for money just isn't right, it's cruel. It has never been a matter of opinion, but of facts and regard for the animals - there is too much evidence to support the need for a ban on circuses with animals. Regardless of how the trainers 'feel' about the animals or how much they love animals in general, anyone who truly respects wild life knows well enough to not manipulate them as a means of profit. Paul Murphy TD's bill to ban wild animals in circuses is exactly the step Ireland needs in the right direction to finally abolish animal abuse and exploitation in this country. There is no need for circuses to feature animals anymore, circuses can and have thrived without out them, and so there is no excuse for continuing this outdated and inhumane tradition. Animals are not for your entertinment. Shocking petition.

Circus's treat their animals very well they are a source of income for them if they are not looked after properly then they are no good and thats not what they do. they often treat animals better than people.. as long as the animals are cared for why should anyone ban them from having them i would understand if they were mistreated but they are not!

A proposed law based on emotion or what someone thinks is ludicrous. There is much scientific evidence stating how Circus animals lives are enriched because of the human /animal interaction. Children who live to far from a zoo or safari park get to see the animals up close and this enriches their lives. Oh that's right, that's AR ultimate goal. No animal/human interaction. They also do not want Zoos, safari parks or even pets. Look up what happened to the Circus animals in Mexico because of the animal ban from 2015. There are no "sanctuarys" that's an AR myth. We are talking about thousands of Mexican circus animals. You will be shocked.

When regulations exist to protect animals already and the circuses are abiding by these, why try to ban them? It makes no sense! Circus brings children close to animals and makes them more aware of them, take this away and they will not care about these species.
Attending the Circus turned my into an animal lover and I now donate to many exotic animal programs and am extremely passionate about lions. Without the circus, I would have never cared about these species
