https://www.alexandriava.gov/tes/info/default.aspx?id=103393 To All Those Invited to Sign This Petition, Please note that NO information regarding the proposed changes to Seminary Road between Howard and Quaker Lane is included in this notice (that I could find, anyway...) The only information included is bold statements designed to scare Alexandria residents. Visit the link included in this post BEFORE signing this petition. There are narratives and traffic studies included described for each Alternate proposed (1 thru 3) that will help you form an INFORMED point of view. From what I read, there are basically NO negative impacts associated with Alternate 3 (reduction of 4 lanes to 2). There are only IMPROVEMENTS to vehicular, pedestrian, bicycle, bus and homeowners who rely on this stretch of Seminary Road. The traffic delays equate to 5 SECONDS at the worst 15 minutes of the day. In my opinion, arguing AGAINST the reduction of lanes on Seminary Lane makes as much sense as signing a petition to ADD two lanes to Janneys Lane and Fort Williams Parkway (reminder.... the roads just ONE block away from this stretch of Seminary Lane!!!) Please reconsider your point of view. Thank you, Emily Freeland

Lane reduction on Seminary will not help the issue. Please reverse the 20 mph speed limit to 35 mph for Seminary and N Quaker Lane; all it’s done is make traffic worse.

Enforce speed limit, Leave four lanes.

I oppose any change to Seminary Road that the city has articulated. None of these are examples of improved safety, only increased accidents. Work on the area by Landmark Mall where there is a lot of vehicular and pedestrian accidents. Let the statistics speak for themselves.

Alexandria’s Transportation & Environmental Services Department (T&ES) has proposed three alternatives for redesign of Seminary Road and has assigned the highest rating to Alternative 3, which would narrow Seminary Road from four vehicular lanes to three, often called a 4-to-3 road diet. Alternative 3 calls for one vehicular lane in each direction and one turn lane running down the middle of the road. Alternative 3 also calls for the installation of bike lanes. Therefore, we the undersigned respectfully request that: • The Traffic & Parking Board reject any recommendation from T&ES or any other party that proposes reducing the number of motor vehicle lanes on Seminary Road between Howard Road and Quaker Lane. • The Alexandria City Council to take up this matter in regular council session should the Traffic & Parking Board approve Alternative 3 or any other recommendation for reducing vehicular lanes or installing bicycle lanes on Seminary Lane between Howard Road and Quaker Lane. • That Council Members vote against any such recommendation from the Traffic & Parking Board if the matter is brought before City Cou

Seminary Road, Quaker Lane and King Streets ARE EXITS OFF OF 395 and are main arteries to our city. BIKES DO NOT TRAVEL ON 395 and have no business on this main streets from 395 traffic. It is also difficult to to take your 4 children to 4 different sports events ON YOUR BIKE, that's why everyone has a van or an SUV. BRAC has been a nightmare and now considering this is ridiculous. LISTEN TO YOUR CONSTITUENTS. There is no problem. RAISE THE SPEED LIMITS back to 35 on fix KING ST. and I beg you to LEAVE SEMINARY ROAD ALONE.

An *enforced* 25mph speed limit along with safely designed sidewalks and crosswalks are a great idea for Seminary Road. Reducing traffic lanes is not.

An incredibly stupid idea by city staff. Next will be the same on S. Pickett or Van Dorn!!!

The gridlock has to stop. I pay a TON of money in taxes to live here. Please listen to your taxpayers.

Leave Seminary as is and repave the road. It appears to me every change suggested by T&SE and approved by council has only exacerbated traffic problems in Alexandria

Keep Seminary Road as is. The data does not support the proposal to reduce lanes on Seminary or to add bike lanes. Stop catering to special interest groups and listen to your citizens.

King Street is essentially undrivable now. Don’t make the same mistake with Seminary Road, the main route to the city’s only hospital.

Agree with the “bicycle mafia” comments. Other than repaving normally to fix potholes, leave Seminary Road alone.

Traveling the streets in Alexandria, particularly east-west, is already difficult. Limiting the number of lanes is not a solution. Not everyone lives or works in places where public transit is realistic, nor are the ‘alternatives’ like bikes or scooters. This isn’t Manhattan and the people who bought homes and pay taxes here did not and do not expect it to be. If you limit thoroughfares you are going to throw more traffic into the neighborhoods

Reducing the number of lanes on Seminary Rd isn't the right solution. Mark Center cut-through traffic is the problem to combat, and it isn't going to go away. Don't exacerbate our traffic problems by narrowing Seminary!

A continuation of the bicycle mafia on the traffic and parking board to push the bicycle solution in spite of the wishes of the community

I support this petition! Keep seminary road the same!
