I dont think those trees should be cut down. What a waste of taxpayer money!

I grew up in PA just west of Erie so seeing this ripping trees along the highway does not make sense. I understand PA thinks it will save lives. There are other means of safeguarding drivers and still keep precious oxygen giving trees in place. Please initiate changes to stop this now.

This tree cutting, while being totally unnecessary, is contributing to the air pollution in the area.

Wolfe is the same politician whose party cries global warming and then cuts down the trees. It looks horrible: ride through states where the trees are not only on the sides but the center of the roadway as well. There are better things to do with taxpayer dollars.

Seems like this would also impact landslides from occurring

I am for tree buffered systems that work especially for wind driven snow.

I enjoy the tree beauty. Most of all I love breathing fresh air.

If a tree is taken down it should be replaced by 2... this is taught in schools at a young age. By removing these trees a habitat is being destroyed.

I was appalled and very sad to see that our state was cutting the trees on I -79. My husband and I have contacted Rep. Bizzaro’s office as well as Gov. Wolf’s offices. At that time we did not get satisfactory answers. We were told it was for safety reasons, cars hitting deer etc. do they not know deer will cross the highway anyway. We then asked how many accidents occurred there with cars hitting trees? How many of those accidents were caused by DUI, texting, speed wildlife? They didn’t know. I feel that the $600,000 + could have been used to at least finishing paving that section before winter. It is our tax dollars not being used wisely and without public input. This is so wrong! With climate change destroying our planet PA decided to remove trees. What about the wildlife? I have seen hawks and once an eagle, which are federally protected. And like it or not the deer will continue to run. We asked how the median would be maintained. We were told it would be mowed. No way in hell can mowing be done with all the tree stumps left. Also, I can see if a car traveling at high speed hits one of those stumps it could go airborne causing more injury or death. I agree that guide rails should be installed and replanting needs to begin immediately. Come on PA don’t destroy our state and planet.

This is another example of crony capitalism. The state political officials and their administrators at PennDOT should be held accountable for their incompetence and corruption. Thank you for organizing this petition. Now lets vote out the incumbents and support only those that advocate for term limits. We need Jeffersonian democracy, not Red/Blue dichotomy.

PennDot has exercised extremely poor environmental judgement.

a. The majority of accidents at the McKean exit are in the winter. The road berm in front of those trees is at least a 6/12 to 8/12 pitch. Unless cars are able to defy gravity they don't travel beyond 20 feet; especially with 3" to 24" of snow on the ground. b. The west to east wind break that in now gone for 2 miles, will make visibility zero, during any type of wind event. I have driven this road for 27 years and the accidents will now increase! c. Paying anyone outright to remove timber without directly negotiating the profit you will make is insane. Trees are a crop and I understand they should be harvested, properly. Clear-cutting is what idiots do. Since government is not financially responsible they don't even think of selling that timber to offset the $6 million dollar project. Those trees could have been thinned to meet the 30 ft. rule AND keep the wind-break! d. New trees should be replanted in the center of that strip. e. The I-79 road paving project from McKean to I-90 is one of PennDot's most incompetently orchestrated disasters!!! As of 10-24-18 it has been 14 weeks since they rough-surfaced the road!! Russel Standard, who must now be owned by a brain-dead PennDot administrator spends EVERY MORNING moving road barriers from the left to right lane! They do NOTHING else! Where is the asphalt? November elections are coming! The entire country seems bent on finally ridding itself of government agencies run by complete INCOMPETENTS. My sincere wish is that Pennsylvania Government, especially PennDot, is drastically changed, current department heads fired and COMMON SENSE put back into Pennsylvania!

And this is the sense and reasoning behind this petition, where the action is making little sense. This could be argued in a high court of law for the common sense and statistics for saving the trees!!! This is, in my mind, murderous to our environment!
