Needless destruction of what was a beautiful area to drive through. Much of the area is at a different elevation and not safe as an overrun area anyway. Use guardrails and improve the PennDOT decision making process.

I can’t believe you cut all those trees down. Very sad

I am totally against the massive removal of tree along our I-79 corridor. I understand the need for driver safety along this highway but completely removing all the trees in the medium seems to be an extreme step. Selective cutting of trees perhaps or the installation of more guardrails should be considered before we do a complete deforestation project. Please reconsider your plan with this project before more of our resource is lost and our highway made more barren and unsightly. Thank you.

We need oxygen to live, stopping cutting trees for the benefit of profit.

I agree, leave the trees there. On parts of 79 those trees act as a wind and snow break, now there is nothing. Stupid, stupid idea.

The removal of trees along I79 without adequate impact study and opportunity for public notice and hearing is unbelievable. The driver safety reason indicated for our area appears short sited and driven by other interests. No further tree removal should occur, and locally grown trees should be planted in these medians ASAP. One should note that the oaks and maples removed are indigenous trees.

I agree PennDOT went way overboard in this. Whoever decided to do this should be ashamed. A 30-50' clear zone is ok but not all the trees like they have done. Let's keep Pennsylvania beautiful, not barren.

Trees are good for the environment. Trees do not cause fatalities--they do not jump out at drivers--reckless, rude, irresponsible drivers cause accidents. They do not know or utter disregard the meaning of yielding, stopping, or following speed limits.

Guard rails are clearly the solution to any safety problems the state sees as a priority.

This is absolutely horrible that the state let this happen. There is absolutely no way a car going off the edges can right it's self. (drive it and see for your self) Let alone that they cut down every tree!!!!!! SAD

The reasoning for removing the trees is ridiculous. Those trees save lives by blocking glare from headlights at night.

The clear cutting of our Pennsylvania Highways works against CO2 toxins, heat index issues, glaring sunlight in drivers eyes, dangerous winter conditions with wind buffers removed, deer will have to go across two lanes of highway creating even more accidents. Cars can careen across medians and create even more horrific fatalities. In the name of safety the clear cut actions of PennDOT are of grave concern on so many levels.
