Canadian Concealed Carry Permit for Back-Country Adventurers

In Canada I can only see a benefit in allowing properly trained and screened (criminal and psychological) individuals to carry firearms daily. Many situations can be resolved with a firearm without even firing a shot, from car jacking a to violent rape. I am the father of two lovely little girls and husband to a beautiful wife. I worry every day that I am not around them that something awful may occur. I would feel so much safer if I had the knowledge that they were equipped with and proficient in the use of a concealed OR openly carried firearm. Just my daughter having that on her hip would almost GUARANTEE her safety. I honestly don't even care if men get to carry handguns. Just PLEASE let the women in our country do so. There is NO possible way my daughter could fight off a 300 pound man who wanted to rape her, even if she had a knife the odds are very very low for her. Having a firearm would increase those odds exponentially! She may not even need to put her finger on the trigger! Please consider a Canada that offers women a chance to keep themselves safe.

Why can't we open carry or hunt with a handgun. Go through a quality course. Get with program

With courses and license. It make good common sense to carry. Be safe in the woods.

Having had a number of close calls in remote back country areas, It's my opinion that ATT2 permit application requirements need to be expanded, to include all restricted licence holders living in Canada.

As a backpacker and a canoe tripper that has dealt with predators without a weapon I would very much prefer having some sort of protection.

A legitimate tool to use against legitimate threats. Of COURSE we should have this.

This is something that should be a legal cause of the growth of preditors in my area and areas close to me for hiking I've got a mares leg witch helps but some people seem uneasy when the see it sticking out of my pack. But it is big enough to bring down a bear if I need it to

Just went to Quesnel BC area for the first time, moose hunting. So much grizz, wolf, cougar, and moose action. 3 guys each had a rifle. Mine was strapped to my bag because my 12 gauge was in my hands. I'm packing 2 guns. Why can't one of them be a pistol? It's just so arbitrary and mis guided the way people treat handguns in this country.

A carry in the backcountry could easily turn out to be a lifesaver in terms of holding off predators and as a survival tool in case of emergency
