To: Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador

The recent suspension of Juan Strickland as technical director of the Corner Brook Minor Hockey Association (CBMHA) by Hockey Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL) has an immediate and, potentially, long-term impact on minor hockey in Corner Brook. Mr. Strickland’s devotion to the coaching of our children over the years has contributed significantly to the enjoyment and love of the game of hockey while teaching them the essential skills to improve as players. This suspension denies the kids registered with the CBMHA of, what should be considered, their rights as minor hockey players. Mr. Strickland has shown nothing but professionalism and good judgment while coaching minor hockey with the CBMHA. It must be believed that HNL would not do anything to take away the opportunities of minor hockey players in the Corner Brook area. We ask the powers within HNL to show fair and swift action in the reinstatement of Juan Strickland as technical director of CBMHA and let our kids be the benefactors of this ruling.
