This dress code is very sexist and unappreciated by all students. I for one can not afford to buy an entire new wardrobe and feel extremely uncomfortable in jeans and sweatshirts. I say let us students wear what they want. Leave the uniforms for work not school. Also it’s way more distracting to take students out of class to correct their clothes choices than it is for some girls to wear leggings or god forbid show their shoulders. The learning environment should be comfortable for everyone and enforcing a strict dress code on a school that’s been very relaxed with this stuff since the beginning is not the best thing you can do. It’s really not fair, especially to the girls. I say you should change it back and stop messing with everything.

This dress code needs more options for the girls. Tucking of shirts does not help learning.

I have a senior, junior, & freshman. My children go to school comfortable & conservative. As a mother of 3 children who have all attended from sixth grade and up I must say the dress code has never been an issue. Our experience has been great why change a good thing that works. That’s creating a disconnection in their heart not getting their school year off to a good start. This is their season, we are utinateky assisting them. We are created for freedom & this dress code sends a message of control.

Ever since this new and "better" dress code came out I have been very depressed. I don't think this dress code will help our learning and education when you have students coming in and out of classrooms due to not having their shirt tucked in or not wearing a polo shirt. I mean come on!? Us students want to show who we are and they number one way we do that is by what we wear!!!! Plus, from what I was last told East Hamilton was not Ooltewah Middle/High school. We don't want a dress code!!!!!

This puts an unjust financial burden on parents, and violates free speech. There are other ways to enforce a dress code.. but making parents spend $1000’s if dollars to buy new uniforms is cruel.

Not sure why the dress codes need to be different. Why can’t the MS wear jeans too.

Uniforms impose a financial burden on families. It is ridiculous to think that a students ability to learn is directly correlated with what they wear. Our BOE and superintendent need to reconsider the hardships they expose on parents. Public school is a joke these days anyway. Home schooling is looking like a much better option.

This dress code is taking away something that I personally take pride in and feel confident in, my style! The dress code will take away how student express themselves and take away a big part of their character. I love waking in the school and seeing all the different, unique clothes everybody wear, it’s away of knowing that I can stand out and tha its okay to be unique, my clothes give me reassurance on who I am. This dress code is sending out a message that it isn’t okay to stand out and be different but to fit in with everybody else! That you will be punished if you wear a different type of pants then the person next to you! That isn’t right students should have the freedom to what they wear in school! Not to mension the expenses that a new uniform with cost all the families of east Hamilton when they could be putting it to a better education for their student(s).
