I am signing this petition anonymously because I am not in support of, or in agreement with, many of the sentiments expressed in the petition. However, I do want to express my support for the reinstatement of Dr. Viktor Osinubi as the Director of the Humanities Program at Clark Atlanta University. Dr. Osinubi has been a dedicated leader, professor, and mentor. He has committed himself to the rigorous training of quality scholars. He has not faltered in his commitment to producing scholars of tomorrow, which is why it is dumbfounding that such a nonsensical decision would be made. This comes at a time that is especially critical as many students are more than halfway through the completion of the Ph.D. program. A change like this would seem to have disastrous consequences, especially because Dr. Osinubi created the program and thus knows the ins and outs of its completion. I’m afraid that such a frivolous decision will greatly upset the progress of many students hoping to finish soon. I’m concerned that Dr. Alma Vineyard does not have the necessary qualifications, such as a Ph.D. in any of the Humanities (it is my understanding that she is an Ed.D.), to carry out the role and responsibilities of the Director of the Humanities Program. It is also my understanding that she has been released from multiple other positions at the university due to her ineffectiveness. It thus seems strange that she would be considered for such a critical position. The decision to remove Dr. Osinubi seems to be haphazard, reckless, and inconsiderate of the many students who have developed genuine relationships with him. The contributions and efforts of Dr. Osinubi to produce quality scholarship under the CAU banner cannot be understated or undermined. It is with respect that I request his immediate reinstatement as the Director the Humanities Program and Clark Atlanta University.

Dr. Osinubi's alacrity and passion to prepare his students for careers in professorship has definitely impacted me in the PhD program. It is my sincere hope that I can have the same influence on my students as Dr. Osinubi has profoundly impacted me in this program!

It is important that Dr. Osinubi be reinstated as the Director of the Ph.D. Humanities program. He is the person who has the experience, the credentials, and the ability to ensure the success of the current graduate students and to ensure that this successful program remains vital in the future.

Dr. Osinubi's dismissal is an terrible mistake in part because so many students need him for the following: advisement, dissertation committees, and dissertation research. With all that has already occurred with the University during the 2009 purge, we as students cannot afford another setback that delays our academic progress. It is essential that Dr. Osinubi be reinstated since he has built the most rapport with students and other faculty. We need his assistance as we get closer to finishing, defending our dissertation and graduating.

Dr. Osinubi has been extremely influential in my matriculation and tradition from DAH to PhD. He has been very attentive, informative, and diligent in guiding me through a very rigorous program. Losing Dr. Osinubi as Department Chair will cause a massive disruption in the completion of my PhD. I'm in the progress of completing my dissertation and I intend on graduation May 2017; however, I'm afraid that not having Dr. Osinubi as a senior advisor could result in a unnecessary disruption in my dissertation progress which could result in a delayed graduation date. In short, Dr. Osinubi's leadership has become a positive fixture of the Humanities Department and we desperately need his continued guidance.

The removal of Dr. Osinubi as program director hurts many students trying to complete their thesis/dissertations. Also, he helped mold me as a scholar and professor. I hope that the university reconsiders this decision and bring back Dr. Osinubi as program chair.
