this is the most ridiculous thing ever, we are literally paying 9k+ a year for us to be told we don’t even get a budget for food? It makes me question what my 9k+ is being spent on. There’s so many students who are deep in their overdraft, so many students who have limited money to spend on food a week, food being included in the budget should be an essential. I’ve not even been in a production where we got dominoes pizza due to not having a big enough budget, even sandwiches would be good enough? Sandwiches hardly cost anything, literally food wouldn’t take up much of the budget.

Having a negotiation regarding a particular production having expensive takeaways a lot during the shoot, and outright removing the power from all of providing even the most basic meals and snacks on set, has a huge difference. This is extremely unfair and shortsighted

Crafty is just as important as production, what if the shoot was in the middle of no where, how would we get our lunches? What if someone is without money (as most of us are, due to rent, bills and living cost struggles at home) are they supposed to go without food and starve? You get crafty covered in the real world, why cant we get crafty covered for university when we pay them over 9 THOUSAND POUNDS A YEAR.

"Industry standard" is a term that is thrown around this course a lot. We are ostensibly being taught the industry standard approaches to all departments, then out of the blue with zero consultation we are being told that our budgets can no longer cover the catering over the shooting period? What is this meant to teach? If you ran a shoot in the real industry and told crew to just send for themselves you would be have a crew that would stick around for more than a day. This is one of the most shortsighted moves I have seen this course make.

Students are under enough stress without having the additional financial worry of having to purchase food and drinks on set. We are spending £9,250 a year to now be told that NFS can’t even fund us having some bottles of water and snacks on set?

We get given a budget so how we decide to spend that budget is entirely up to us. If you didn't want us to spend on catering then how are we expected to prepare for the real world.
