Carrington Community HOA Rule Change

PETITION TO AMEND OR CLARIFY HOA RULES TO ALLOW PERMANENT EXTERIOR LIGHTING
To: Carrington HOA Board
From: Homeowners of Carrington
Date: June 13, 2025
We, the undersigned homeowners of Carrington, respectfully petition the Board of the Homeowners Association to amend or clarify the current HOA guidelines to explicitly allow tasteful, professionally installed permanent exterior lighting on homes within our neighborhood.
Background:Several homeowners, including ourselves, have installed permanent exterior lighting systems to celebrate holidays, enhance curb appeal, and improve home safety. These systems are discreet, energy-efficient, and controlled via smartphone apps, allowing homeowners to adjust brightness, timing, and color schemes with ease.
After reviewing the current HOA guidelines, we do not see any language explicitly prohibiting permanent exterior lighting. However, CAMS has recently sent out non-compliance notices for such installations. This inconsistency suggests a need for clearer language or a rule update to reflect modern home technologies and the desires of Carrington residents.
Request:We respectfully request that the HOA:
- Explicitly allow permanent exterior lighting, provided it is professionally installed and flush with the roofline or home trim;
- Encourage responsible use, including turning off or dimming lights during neighborhood quiet hours from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM;
- Promote appropriate color use and lighting patterns during non-holiday periods, to maintain neighborhood aesthetics.
We believe this clarification will help reduce confusion, prevent unnecessary violation notices, and allow residents to enjoy tasteful, functional lighting systems in keeping with community standards.
Support:By signing below, we show our support for this proposal and respectfully request that it be added to the agenda for the next Carrington HOA board meeting.
Thank you for your time and your continued efforts to support and improve our Carrington community.
Sincerely,
Brittany Fogle
