CARMEN has transformed the lives of hundreds and thousands of people and has helped the East Harlem communities in unimaginable ways. The place where the East Harlem Tutorial Program now stands was just a small tiny tutoring program when CARMEN became executive director she transformed it and quadrupled its budget. She converted it into a world class after school program and a summer camp as well as training for young people and teenagers to become tutors she even gave her space for us to come back after graduating high school as college students we were able to work and pay for our tuition.
