I remembered Carmen Rivera as the executive director of the East Harlem Tutorial Program (EHTP), where she helped many children from the community, ensuring that kids were academically, socially, and culturally prepared to take on the world. On her last day at the EHTP, then-Congressman Charles B. Rangel dropped by to say his farewells and presented Carmen with a proclamation for her excellent work in the East Harlem Community. It would be the right tribute to acknowledge her legacy by renaming the street, where she worked hard to make a difference.

Please name the street after Carmen Vega-Rivera. She was a an extraordinary woman who impacted the lives of so many on this street. EHTP is her legacy! It's only right that the street be named after her.
