Whereas, Hal Carlson attended Rockford Schools 100 years ago; Wight Elementary and Rockford Central,
Whereas, Hal Carlson's baseball career spanned 14 years, for three different teams, Hal Carlson pitched for the Chicago Cubs in the 1929 World Series, the only Rockfordian to have ever pitched in a World Series,
Whereas, Hal Carlson was talented, once even striking out the great Babe Ruth,
Whereas, Hal Carlson has a remarkable personal story, a testament to good character and sportsmanship..
Resolved, Hal Carlson should be inducted into the Rockford Schools Sports Hall of Fame, posthumously.

My aunt married Hal Calson in the mid 1920s. I can come up with wedding pictures of th afair in Altona Ill. He married Eva Nelson a school teacher.

My dad used to tell stories about him when I was a kid. A true legend for the city and he deserves this honor.
