Sustainable food tastes better. By the end of January the Carleton administration will make a decision about our future dining service provider. The administration is clearly determined to make a wise and informed choice, taking into serious consideration the costs and benefits of each of the two dining service proposals. The Appeal for Sustainable Dining was written to formally articulate an opinion shared by the entire Carleton community: when it comes to food, sustainability and social responsibility matter most. The Appeal is not a list of demands, per se; compromises will of course be made in the effort to achieve the best quality food as well as the best economic value, but it is important to let the decision makers know the kinds of values we would like to see reflected in our dining service provider. Naturally, it shouldn\'t be a surprise to the administration that students at Carleton are concerned about sustainability and social responsibility, but by formally adding your name to the Appeal, and as the list of names grows, it will add a concrete emphasis to the importance of sustainability.
